รายงานข่าวล่าสุด ในระหว่างงานประชุมนักพัฒนา PDC 2010 (Professional Developers Conference) ที่จัดขึ้นโดยไมโครซอฟท์ (Microsoft) ทางบริษัทได้ประกาศเปิดตัว IE9 Platfrom Preview 6 พร้อมทั้งแจ้งว่า IE9 เวอร์ชัน RC ใกล้จะเสร็จสมบูรณ์แล้ว

         สำหรับ IE9 Platform Preview 6 จะมีการปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพการทำงานให้เร็วขึ้น ตลอดจนเพิ่มการสนับสนุน HTML5 และ CSS3 2D โดยเป็นแพลตฟอร์มที่ออกมาหลังจาก IE9 beta ได้เปิดให้ดาวน์โหลดมาได้ 6 สัปดาห์แล้ว ซึ่งทาง Microsoft ยังเปิดเผยอีกด้วยว่า ยอดดาวน์โหลด IE9 beta ทะลุ 10 ล้านดาวน์โหลดไปเรียบร้อยแล้ว ทุบสถิติ IE เวอร์ชันเบต้าทุกตัว (คลิปข้างล่างนี้ เป็นการสาธิต IE9 Platform Preview 6 สำหรับการรันกราฟิกแอนิเมชันด้วย HTML5 Canvas เทียบกับ Chrome 7)
